The inclement weather yesterday contributed to a tough hard mans’ competition in the Cycleways cup in Navan . During the first half of the race a breakaway group of ten strong men established a commanding lead . Working well together they fended off the pursuit of a well organised group behind which contained the likes of pre race favourites Paul Helion and Rory Wiley . On the final lap sensing that the tme had come to jettison his now weary breakaway companions Brain Kenneally AKA Big Ben launched an explosive attack which none of the others could attempt to follow . Niall Delahaye made an attempt but could not close on the impressive Kenneally . However he did hold on for second ahead of team mate Greg Swinnand with Sean Lacey in fourth . Connor McGrath rode well to make it into the breakaway group and took a well deserved B prize .
