Sam Bennett has fought adversity with tenacity and determination to make his way to the highest echelon of professional cycling. A kind and softly spoken manner off the bike can lead his competitors into a false sense of complacency on the bike, when the ferocious determination of a rampaging lion kicks in.

2007 – Sam as a junior rider starts off in the Clonmel League race and catches everyone in front before winning ahead of Keith Gater, with Robin Kelly not far behind.

Here Sam is interviewed for a feature on the RTE Six1 news in 2009

Coming back from a career threatening injury in 2011, watch out for the Superman socks.

The breakthrough victory in the 2013 Tour of Britain. Just look at the names on the GC sheet at the finish.

2015 begins with Sam stepping it up again winning ahead of Peter Sagan and Alexander Kristoff.

Sam is sure to excite us many more times this year and into the future. To see him sprinting it out against the Worlds best in the Tour de France this year will be incredible.

Whilst he now trains with Classic winners like Simon Gerrans and Matt Goss who are his neighbours in Monaco, he is still the very same Sam when he returns home to Carrick to train with all of the locals.

Gerrans in Monaco, Gizmo in Carrick, Sam treats everyone the same.
