Viner Maxima – latin for Santa comes early

The delivery van pulled up outside the shop and I felt a surge of anticipation well up inside of me . We looked out as the driver carried a large box towards the door . I wondered if it was big enough to contain two of the worlds most sought after road bike frame-sets .

Viner Maxima 7

Ray signed for the box and we got stuck into ripping open the top of the box . I hadn’t been this excited since I was six years old , on  Christmas eve , waiting for the guy in the big red coat to deliver a matchbox multi-storey dinky garage ( with a car elevator )

As I unwrapped the frame I was delighted with what I had in my hands . The finish was immaculate . The carbon weaves on display were impressive . The level of detail in the finish right down to the perfectly cleaned dropouts which avoid any paint chipping had every box ticked .

The colour scheme also turned out even better than I had expected and it matches perfectly with our worldwidecycles.com team gear .

I now have the difficult task of building it up . Groupset will be Campagnolo Super Record . Finish kit will be FSA K-Force . But the jury is still out on what wheels to put on my ultimate dream machine . Any suggestions are most welcome .

    with regard to wheels….

There is only one wheelset to consider and that is Mavic Cosmic carbon Ultimates they are the best all round wheels money can buy! Boras are crap on irish roads (had a pair)and lightweights are too deep for racing also not as rigid as ultimates. But don’t take my word for it check the site below where 78 wheelsets are tested for Aerodynamics, stiffness, inertia and evan bearing resistance! and while the ultimates don’t win every test they are definately the most consistent.

I think you might be onto something there Jason . The Ultimates probably are the best choice for racing and those really speacial days . The colour scheme would match perfectly too . Now for a set of everyday wheels , Rory Wiley mentioned out on the bike one day that he would not go past the campag neutrons . It made me look a little closer at campag and I like the look of the Eurus 2 way which give the option of trying tubeless which is on my to do list also .
