Have a good one !
I was asked recently what the best way to train for an event in 4 months time would be . After explaining the benefits of tapering and working back from the date of the event and training in 4 week blocks ,I began to wonder just how much the person would actually enjoy riding their bike during that time and what would happen even if they won the event .
The simple pleasure of heading out for a spin on the bike without any pressure might not be experienced this summer . Every spin will have to have a purpose and any deviation from the plan may lead to frustration and resentment .
Life is all about balance , just like riding the bike . We all need to have a purpose but somedays we need to enjoy that day or that spin just for what it is .
Today , have a good one !

Great write-up, Barry. I can only speak from the MTB side of things, but a few guys have this attitude and it’s a pity that we forget why we orginally started cycling.

Hi Barry
they have a nice saying for this here in Italy – “Andiamo per la passiagato” which translates to “We go for a Walk”
