Save a cyclists life, maybe even your own.

Recently I was doing a bike fit for a member of the Ambulance service and as we were chatting I became more and more aware of just how important it is for us as cyclists to help ourselves should something happen when we are out there on or off the road.

There is a window of time when a life can be saved and information is key to making the right decisions.

When a 999 call is made, the person on the other end of the phone has to decide if an ambulance or a helicopter is required and what hospital the injured person needs to be brought to.

By providing as much relevant information as possible the correct choices can be made and lives can be saved.

So, what can you do to help yourself and others?

Fill out the attached form and keep it in a freezer bag in your saddle bag or with your spare tube in your back pocket. Encourage as many of your club mates or fellow cyclists to do the same thing.

You could also use an idme wristband which can be purchased here  : http://idme.ie

Whatever you do just do something. It might just save your life or that of one of your cycling buddies.

Click on the form below to download it in Word format so that you can insert your own details

cyclist medical details

Many thanks to Eoin for helping me with this.
